Book swap shop

February 25, 2009

Mrs. Bale is thinking about setting up a lunchtime ‘book swap shop’, one day a week.  Children can bring in up to 3 books at a time, either to lend for 3 weeks or to give as a permanent swap.  This could be an opportunity for you to share books that you have particularly enjoyed, and have a chance to try books that you might not want to buy.

What do you think? Do you like the idea? Please let Mrs. Bale know, via the blog or in person.

Charitable thought…

February 19, 2009

If you could make up your own charity, what would it be for and what would you do with the money you got?  Maybe think about: Facilities, equipment and more.

Our local time for World Maths Day to start is: Tuesday March 3rd 2009 11:00:00 AM and will continue until midnight Wednesday March 4th 2009.

Each class will spend an hour in school competing against other schools around the world during Tuesday or Wednesday. There are prizes for the most correctly answered questions for a pupil, class and school in the UK and the World! Come on St. Mark’s!

The site is already open for you to start practising and earning points from home or school, during the lunchhour!  Go to the website:  and sign in (use the password given to you by your teacher – you will be seen on the screen by your first name, initial of surname and school e.g. Sam P St. Mark’s Junior School, Salisbury, UK). Have Fun!

You can also visit and sign in with your same log in details.  Then set up your profile -character, hair type, clothes etc. and start playing against other world mathletes! You will also be using this programme in school – more details to follow…
