Hi everyone,

just a short message as off to the semi-finals in a couple of hours.

The first match on Monday, England v New Zealand certainly set the stage for the forthcoming games. the noise inside the ground was quite deafening especially as I had TWO steel bands behind me. i was seated opposite the large TV screen with plenty of spare seats around me until the second over when about 600 school children arrived to have a day away from lessons to enjoy the cricket. i was surrounded by very well dressed and extremely polite children ranging from 11 to 14. They were very chatty and asked me questions about football and Kevin petterson. I told them how lucky they were to be having such an enjoyable day whilst back in England all 10/11 year olds were having their first SAT’s tests – they sent their best wishes!!!!

The West Indies v Australia match was full to capacity but after Sammy, the St. Lucian batsman, was out FIRST BALL you could have dropped a pin and heard it hit the concrete!

The humming birds and finches have been around our bungalow and I even have photos of finches taking cake from off my knees! Will bring them in next week.

Our flight out was delayed by 5 hours – volcanic ash so we are hoping to have more luck flying back on Sunday evening.

Significant people – Andy Warhol

In IPC in year 4, we learnt about ‘Significant People’. We mixed art and IPC. and we studied the life and work of Andy Worhol. I have done some work in the style of Andy Worhol. As well we learnt when he died, 1987. Not many people liked his art especially 100 Cans. I like his art because it is unique and special.

Snowman

In Year 4 we looked at the Snowman DVD. We saw the DVD first and then took the snowman on our own adventures around the school. Next we thought of places in and around Salisbury and described them. It was great fun!

Bugs on the blog!

Recently, members of 6W emptied our bug hotels. These hotels were made in the autumn to provide shelter for all sorts of bugs over the winter. They were made out of chicken wire wrapped into a cylinder. Then they were filled with leaves after putting sticks through the bottom (to stop the leaves falling out). We put them in St Marks gardening area. A few days ago (In Spring) we emptied the bug hotels. We discovered lots of bugs. The best bug we found was a Centripede. There were lots of woodlice. I have asked some onlookers about the bugs. “It was enjoyable,” said Sam. “It was intresting to see the different types of bugs.” said Alex To some up, it was great fun.

Woodlands Junior Website

Woodlands Junior is a well layed out, school orientated website. It has a variety of games that can expand your knowledge in all areas, such as maths and english. There is one flaw though. Sometimes you need to do updates so it can run the games which can be annoying. Nevertheless it is a fantastic website for everyone so I would give it 4 stars out of 5 stars. Would you? Questionaut is a great game. It will test you on a number of subjects, e.g. science maths and literacy. You go from planet to planet in an air balloon. At each planet you have to get five questions right. If you get one wrong, you go down a question. e.g. 4 to 3 questions right. You can find it and other similar games by clicking here.

Book review – Gifted

I have been reading a book called Gifted. It was a very interesting book. I couldn’t put it down once I had started. The main character is Amanda Beeson. She rules the school and one day when she wakes up she is Tracy the loser. This is a fantastic book and I would want anyone to read it in upper school. By Chloe 5R

Singing horses!?

Singing Horses is a great game - I would recommend it to anyone that has a sense of humour. After playing it for a while, I couldn’t get enough of it! All the sounds are great and it is so funny. Once a gain I would recommend it to anyone.
